- Sleep your way to a Guinness World Record
Calling all Scouts across the UK – join us for The Giant Sleepover which will take place in venues all across the UK on the night of 14 June 2008. Come and help break the Guinness World Record for 'the biggest simultaneous sleepover'.
This year, The Giant Sleepover has joined forces with the world’s leading children’s charity, Save the Children, to help raise thousands of pounds for children suffering in emergencies around the world.
Each year thousands of Scouts take part in this fun, truly giant event, which is aimed at 5 - 16 year olds. In 2008, over 50,000 young people are expected to take part in over 1,000 sleepover venues.
- Every participating young person receives a ‘goody bag’ bursting with fun things to do.
- Every sleepover venue receives a ‘Treasure Chest’ of games, prizes and activities to use on the night.
- Plus a complementary breakfast for everyone courtesy of Kellogg's!
In 2008, all groups participating in The Giant Sleepover will have the opportunity to raise money for Save the Children, the event’s nominated charity, in addition to charities of their choice.
Once registered there will be the chance to apply to have your sleepover at a special venue. This year these will include Lord’s and Edgbaston Cricket Grounds, Warwick Castle, The Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, The London, Edinburgh and York Dungeons and SEALIFE Centres across the UK, plus many more.
To break the world record for the largest simultaneous sleepover all children must have their lights out for at least seven hours and not sleep in their own beds!
Anyone wishing to take part can register a Group Sleepover at www.giantsleepover.com or call 0870 240 1640.
It costs £20 to initially register your group and then a further £2 per child when you confirm the exact number of children participating. All numbers must be confirmed by 30 April 2008.
