What is a Fellowship?
Scout Fellowships exist to support scouting in many different ways. Recent changes in the Scout movement have encouraged a move away from large Area Fellowships to Fellowships where the members have a specific interest within Scouting. It is now necessary to form a fellowship wherever there is a group of adults working along with the Youth members. Aberdeen currently has two sections - these are the Green Room Fellowship and the Templars' Fellowship. The Green Room exists primarily to support the Aberdeen Gangshow and includes members of cast, crew and wardrobe as well as other supporters. The members of the Templars' Fellowship primarily support, maintain and help staff Templars' Park - the Aberdeen Area camp site. Both fellowships also supply volunteers to help with a wide range of other local activities both within and without the scouting movement. Many Fellowship members have dual membership of both groups. Any one interested in joining should contact one of the Fellowships for further details. How much time you give is up to you and your circumstances. All adults involved with young people within the Scouting movement need to complete disclosure forms to allow neccessary checks to be made and these can be obtained from the Felowships. |
